STATE OF THE CHURCH

they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Tikahtnu Campus

New Campus Pastor

Eric Knight

Finding a better location for ChangePoint Tikahtnu was a priority in 2023. But we didn’t know we would also be looking for a new campus pastor! Eric Knight stepped in, and the Tikahtnu family continued serving their community through ministries like The Bear’s Den at Bartlett and on JBER through Operation Warmheart.

New Location

scenic park bible church

Scenic Park Bible Church has a long ministry history in
East Anchorage. Excited by the possibilities for partnership between our church families, and by new ministry opportunities, on June 11 ChangePoint Tikahtnu moved its Sunday services to Scenic Park’s facility.

MatSu Campus

For the valley...and all alaska.

Kids Center

Mat-Su renovated and opened a children’s building to accommodate the many growing families who have joined the church.

Outreach

From windstorm response to booths at Colony Days & the Vintage Market, from Impact Alaska to the State Fair, our family was demonstrating Christ’s heart in the Valley.

Uncommon Gift

HeartReach Center of
Alaska.

Kattivik Bible Camp

48

God has used Kattivik Bible Camp to impact hundreds of Iñupiat youth over the years.  This year we faced the big challenge of finding a new location for camp.  And the question, “Will students want to come?”

God provided the location.  He provided the volunteers needed to set-up the facilities and staff the camps.  Best of all, He brought more campers than expected!  Both camps were at max capacity!

Wien Apartments

We acquired Kotzebue’s historic Wien Hotel with a vision to renovate it into modern apartments that will fill an essential housing need in the community and help finance future ministry in the region. Samaritan’s Purse partnered with us this summer to complete Phase 1 - exterior renovations.

Marshall

In our second year of ministry in the lower Yukon River village of Marshall God has given John and Margaret Lewis even more opportunities to bring the gospel to the community — especially the youth.  The Teen Center is open five nights a week, giving John and Margaret the remarkable opportunity to reach nearly every young person in Marshall!

John and Margaret were recently publicly recognized by village leadership for outstanding service to the community.

Looking forward

Raspberry Campus

Vision 2023

To begin our planning for this ministry year we asked our Raspberry Campus family to share their input on our current and potential ministries. 180 surveys were submitted, and members spent on average 50 minutes filling out each one.

Every pastor and every elder read every survey response as we prayerfully developed our plan looking forward.

Major Themes

Create More Opportunities to Learn and Understand God’s Word

Improve Sunday Service Experience

Expand Usefulness of the ChangePoint App

october '23 - biblical education

Starting Fall 2023 we are offering a range of evening classes for people at
various stages of faith on Sunday and Wednesdays evenings.

Jan '24 - ChangePoint Bible Institute

Starting Jan 2024, we intend to begin a systematic approach to Bible education. Our vision is to give people the opportunity to achieve a solid base of Biblical understanding through core classes such as Old Testament & New Testament Survey, Christian Theology, and Church History.

Ultimately, we hope to offer accredited certification through partnerships with established Bible colleges.

New changepoint app

Major Upgrade to User Experience

The new app allows for personal and customized engagement.

You stay logged in. No need to fill out a long form every time you sign-up for something.

The app knows your campus and displays your campus content by default.

The church Event Calendar is clearly displayed and easy to use.

The new app is in testing and will be available this fall.

Sunday Experience

We are actively exploring how to make major improvements to our Sunday service experience.

• Better Sound in the Auditorium

• Better Lighting in the Auditorium

• Heat in the Commons During Winter

• Improvements and Repairs to AdventureLand

Eastside Campus

New Name

ChangePoint’s East Anchorage campus is now called “ChangePoint Eastside.” This change reflects both the church’s move from the Tikahtnu Commons area, and its passion to reach all of East Anchorage.

New Neighborhood

ChangePoint Eastside’s new location creates opportunities for ministry within a specific neighborhood. A strategy we think God may use in the future.

New Partnership possibilities

Scenic Park Bible Church has decades of ministry history and relationships in the neighborhood. We are exploring how God would have us pursue this new ministry partnership.

Matsu Campus

From church plant to local church

We are excited to step fully into local church ministry  in the Valley.
Enjoying the fruit of a 7-person church staff.
Actively looking for local outreach partners and global missionaries.

Next Gen

Ministry to the Next Generation is a major priority this year.
Our kids building is open.
We have hired new Student and Children’s Ministry Directors.

Community

Working to keep Community Life growth at the pace of our church growth.
• 8 new Life Groups this year. 17 total.
• Over 50% of the church in a group.

Location

This is our 3rd year at Strathclyde Lane. Though we have made the most of this facility, we believe God has a future for MatSu that is bigger than this location. We are prayerfully seeking where God might lead ChangePoint MatSu next.

Kotzebue Campus

Kattivik Bible Camp

Work to expand the number of youth we can reach through our new camp location.

Leaders In Training (l.i.t.)

Continue weekly discipleship of the young people in Kotzebue who have made decisions for Jesus.

Wien Apartments

We look forward to completing renovations on the Wien Apartments building in Kotzebue. These apartments will meet a community housing need and finance our ministry efforts in the region.

Ministry Center

ChangePoint does not currently have a ministry facility in Kotzebue. Securing additional property will allow our Kotzebue Campus to build a permanent home.
